Suspension Strut / Shock Absorber: Description and Operation
Rear

This vehicle uses rear shock absorbers which include the coil springs for the rear suspension of the vehicle. This type of shock absorber is called a
coil-over shock absorber. The shock absorbers used on this vehicle are supplied by Koni. The top of the shock absorber is mounted to the frame of the
vehicle using a rubber isolator bushing pressed into the upper mounting eye of the shock absorber. The bottom of the shock absorber is mounted to the
lower control arm using the clevis on the bottom of the shock absorber. The attachment of the clevis to the rear lower control arm is done using a
mounting bracket bolted to the lower control arm. This mounting bracket contains the isolator bushing for the clevis. The clevis is also used as the lower
seat for the coil spring.
