SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

Low Tire Pressure Warning (LTPW) lamp blinks intermittently. This symptom usually occurs during the first drive of the day.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

This bulletin involves adjusting tire pressure(s) and/or replacing low tire pressure sensor/transmitter(s)

1.

Connect a scan tool (DRBIII(R)) to the Data Link Connector (DLC) located under the dash panel to the left of the steering column and select
DRBIII(R) Standalone/1994-1999 Diagnostics/"Chassis"/Tire Pressure Monitor/Miscellaneous/Monitor. Note the tire pressure readings and adjust
tire pressures per the following information and table using a known accurate manual pressure gauge (+/-2 psi).

If the vehicle has been driven less than 1 mile within the past 30 minutes or has not been driven in the last 3 hours the pressure readings taken are
considered cold readings. If the vehicle has been driven 5 miles within the past 10 minutes, the pressure readings taken are considered hot readings.

Disconnect the DRBIII(R) and test drive the vehicle for 5 minutes (the vehicle must be driven in excess of 33 kph (20 mph) to activate the tire
pressure sensor/transmitters). If the LTPW light does not blink after the test drive, return the vehicle to the customer.

NOTE:

INFORM THE CUSTOMER OF THE NEW TIRE PRESSURE SETTINGS AND IF THE CUSTOMER REGULARLY DOES TIRE PRESSURE
CHECKS OF THEIR OWN, SUGGEST THEY VERIFY THEIR TIRE PRESSURE GAUGE'S ACCURACY BY TAKING READINGS WITH IT
AS SOON AS POSSIBLE USING THE HOT/COLD GUIDELINES ABOVE. ALSO INFORM THE CUSTOMER, TIRE PRESSURE WILL
VARY WITH THE AMBIENT TEMPERATURE. TIRE PRESSURE WILL DECREASE WHEN AMBIENT TEMPERATURES ARE COLDER
AND INCREASE WHEN TEMPERATURES ARE WARMER THAN THE AMBIENT TEMPERATURE THAT EXISTED WHEN THE TIRE
PRESSURE WAS ORIGINALLY SET. CUSTOMERS SHOULD EXPECT TO LOSE UP TO 1 PSI OF TIRE PRESSURE PER MONTH AND IS
CONSIDERED NORMAL.

If the LTPW light continues to blink after the test drive, connect the DRBIII(R) to the DLC and view the "Last 32 Transmissions" again. If the
DRBIII(R) pressure reading(s) vary more than 4 psi from known accurate manual gauge reading(s), replace the tire pressure sensor/transmitter(s),
p/n 04815132, using the tire to wheel mounting procedure outlined beginning on page 22-10 of Prowler Service manual (Publication No.
81-270-7123).

4.

Test drive the vehicle for 5 minutes at a speed greater than 20 mph to verify the repair.
