5. Route transaxle shift cable through hole in seat compartment panel (Fig. 17).
6. Install cable grommet.
7. Route under carpeting and to the gearshift mechanism.
8. Fasten gearshift cable retaining clips to driver's compartment with rivets.
9. Place shifter in the Park position.

10. Route cable through hole in gearshift mechanism and attach to cable attaching stud (pin) by snapping into place.
11. Install a new clip onto the cable at the gearshift mechanism.
12. Tighten the adjuster nut.
13. Reinstall console, bezel and gearshift handle. Hold shifter button in while tightening handle. This will locate handle properly.
14. Install driver's side seat.
15. Check shifter for proper operation. It should operate smoothly without binding. The vehicle should crank in Park or Neutral only.
