Lubricate the pinion housing with power steering fluid and install the valve and pinion assembly (Figure 10). Tool C-4789 should remain on the
assembly and used as a seal protector when installing the assembly into the housing (Figure 11). While installing the valve and pinion assembly, be
sure to line up the marks previously made on the housing with the flat on the stub shaft.
CAUTION: USE EXTREME CARE TO NOT DAMAGE LOWER SEAL.

Install the remaining pinion parts as outlined in Steps "J" through "P" under "Pinion Stub Shaft Seals" in this bulletin.
CAUTION: AFTER INSTALLING VALVE AND PINION ASSEMBLY, BE SURE THE FRONT WHEELS ARE IN THE STRAIGHT
AHEAD POSITION AND THE FLAT ON THE STUB SHAFT IS PROPERLY ALIGNED WITH THE LOCATING MARKS ON
THE HOUSING. THIS WILL INSURE PROPER STEERING WHEEL ALIGNMENT. IF THE STEERING WHEEL IS OFF
CENTER, THE PINION WAS MIS-INDEXED DURING INSTALLATION.
