Fuel Pressure Regulator: Service and Repair

The electronic fuel injection system is under a constant pressure of approximately 14.5 psi. Before servicing the fuel pump, fuel lines, fuel
filter, throttle body or fuel injector, the fuel system pressure must be released.

1. Remove air cleaner assembly.
2. Perform fuel system pressure release procedures as previously described.
3. Disconnect battery ground cable.
4. Place a suitable shop towel around fuel inlet chamber as to contain any remaining fuel in system, then remove three pressure regulator to throttle

body attaching screws.

5. Pull pressure regulator from throttle body.
6. Remove O-ring from pressure regulator, then the gasket.
7. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:

a. Install new pressure regulator gasket and new O-ring.
b. Torque pressure regulator to throttle body attaching screws to 40 inch lbs.
