Water Pump: Service and Repair

1.

Disconnect battery ground cable.

2.

Drain cooling system, and remove upper radiator hose.

3.

Remove A/C compressor from mounting brackets and position aside with refrigerant lines attached, if equipped.

4.

Remove alternator.

5.

Disconnect lower radiator hose, bypass hose. Remove four water pump to engine attaching screws and water pump, Figs. 53 and 54.

6.

Reverse procedure to install.

Note:  Manufacturer recommends using a mixture of 50% antifreeze and 50% water.

7.

Refill cooling system, bleed through vent plug until mixture reaches vent hole, then install and tighten plug. Continue to fill until system is full.
