4.

Reposition the carpet and padding around the lower column and reinstall the column seal and silencer, using the previously removed zip nuts.

5.

Reinstall the carpet, cowl side panel, and scuff plate.

6.

Road test vehicle to confirm repair. If the effort is still too high, proceed to Step B.

1.

Raise vehicle on a hoist for access to the steering gear mounting bolts.

2.

Remove and discard the two (2) forward mounting bolts and loosen the two (2) rearward screws several turns.

Rock the steering gear rearward and slide the tapered shims into position as shown in Figure 2.

4.

Install the two (2) new screws, PN 6100579, in the forward mounting holes.

5.

Torque all four mounting bolts to 250 inch pounds.

6.

Lower vehicle and road test to confirm repairs.
