Fast Idle Adjustment

FAST IDLE SPEED ADJUSTMENT

NOTES:  Always check specifications and procedures shown on underhood emissions label. Before checking or adjusting any idle speed, check ignition
timing and adjust if necessary.

Set parking brake and place transaxle in neutral. Turn off all lights and accessories.

Disconnect and plug vacuum connector at the Coolant Vacuum Switch Cold Closed (CVSCC) valve.

Unplug connector at radiator fan and install jumper wire so fan will run continuously.

Remove PCV valve and allow valve to draw underhood air.

-

Connect tachometer to engine.

-

Ground carburetor switch with jumper wire.

-

Disconnect oxygen sensor system test connector located on left fender shield.

-

Start and run engine until normal operating temperature is reached.

-

Open throttle slightly and place adjustment screw on slowest speed step of fast idle cam.

With the choke valve fully open, adjust the fast idle speed to specification. Return to curb idle then replace adjusting screw on the slowest speed
step of fast idle speed cm to verify fast idle speed, readjust if necessary.

Turn off engine, remove jumper wire and reconnect the radiator fan. Unplug and reconnect vacuum connector. Reinstall the PCV valve and
remove tachometer. Reconnect oxygen sensor test connector.
