DIAGNOSIS

Inspect the selector shift cable in the area of the speedometer cable and/or damper strut. The cable should be installed forward of both of these
components, if so equipped (Figure 1).
REPAIR PROCEDURE

This procedure outlines rerouting the selector shift cable.

1.

Disconnect selector shift cable from the transaxle operating lever and cable mounting bracket.

2.

Reroute selector shift cable to pass forward of the speedometer cable and the damper strut, if so equipped.

3.

Reattach the selector shift cable to the cable mounting bracket and the transaxle operating lever.

4.

Readjust the shift linkage as outlined in appropriate service manual.
