Remove 5-R blockout plate (Figure 3).

Remove crossover shaft assembly (Figure 4).

Install new crossover shaft assembly, PN 4531890, as called out in PARTS REQUIRED.

Install 5-R blockout plate (tighten bolts to 12 N-m [105 in.lbs.] torque as called out in Figure 5) and external crossover lever.
8.
Clean gearshift housing-to-transaxle mounting surfaces and apply a 1/16" bead of MOPAR Gasket Maker PN 4318083, or equivalent, on the
gearshift housing mounting surface.
9.
Install gearshift housing assembly to transaxle. Tighten bolts to 28 N-m (21 ft.lbs.) torque.
10.
Attach shift cables to gearshift housing, invert 10 mm lock pin so that short end inserts into shift housing, and check shifter for proper operation.
11.
Additional installation steps for 3.0L applications:
A.
Raise transaxle into position and install left side engine mount bolt. Tighten bolt to 81 N-m (60 ft.lbs.) torque.
B.
Install lower radiator hose. Tighten hose clamps to 4.1 N-m (35 in.lbs.) torque.
