Insert the larger hook end of the spring through the rear of the slot in the latch bar (from the bottom up as shown in Figure 1).

Rotate the spring down pointing toward the rear (back) of the seat.

Pull the small hook end of the spring rearward to the lower rear corner of the seat frame to adjuster attaching flange, and hook the spring end
