Shock Absorber Replacement

REPLACEMENT

Note:  This removal and installation procedure should be used for both types of shock absorber systems (standard and load-leveling).

1. Raise and support vehicle.

2. Support axle with suitable jack, then remove shock absorber lower bolts. 

Note:  If bolts deflect upward during removal, raise axle by adjusting jack. If bolts deflect downward during removal, lower axle by adjusting jack.

3. While holding shock, remove upper shock bolt.

4. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:

a. Install shock absorber bolts finger tight.
b. Tighten bolts to specifications with vehicle lowered and full vehicle weight on axle.
