7. Use a straight edge to check alignment of timing marks (Fig. 75).
8. Install the camshaft sprocket bolt and washer. Tighten bolt to 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.).
9. Rotate crankshaft two revolutions. Timing marks should line up. If timing marks do not line up, remove cam sprocket and realign.
10. Measure camshaft end play. Refer to Engine; Specifications. If not within limits install a new thrust plate.
NOTE: When camshaft is replaced, all of the tappets must be replaced.
11. Install hydraulic tappets. Each tappet reused must be installed in the same position from which it was removed.
12. Install timing chain, timing chain cover, cylinder heads, cylinder head covers, and intake manifold.
13. Install engine assembly.
