Valve Cover: Service and Repair
Rocker Arm Cover - Left

ROCKER ARM COVER
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT

1.  Negative battery cable.
2.  Drain coolant.
3.  Loosen coolant tube below thermostat housing.
4.  Hose at water pump.
5.  Tube bracket and swing aside.
6.  Tube from Valve cover to air inlet hose.
7.  Spark plug wire guide.
8.  Strut bracket.
9.  Valve cover.

CAUTION If cover adheres to cylinder head, shear off by bumping end of rocker arm cover with palm of hand or soft rubber mallet. Do NOT
SCRATCH SEALING FLANGE.

CLEAN

^  Sealing surface on cylinder head and valve cover with degreaser.

INSTALL OR CONNECT

1.  New gasket. Make sure gasket is seated properly in Valve cover groove.
2.  Apply 1052917 or equivalent in notch.
3.  Valve cover.

Tighten
^  Cover bolts 8-12 Nm (6-9 ft. lbs.).

4.  Spark plug wire guide.
5.  Tube from Valve cover to air inlet hose.
6.  Tube bracket.
7.  Hose to water pump.
8.  Tighten coolant tube.
9.  Strut bracket.

10.  Fill cooling system.

INSPECT

^  For oil leaks at sealing surfaces.
^  For coolant leaks.
