This bulletin is being revised to add artwork. Please discard bulletin 88-8-26 issued 5/89.
The memory seat function on the 1988 Pontiac STE, when equipped with manual transmission, may not operate.
Cause:
The circuit to the module which receives an input from the P/N switch on automatic transmission cars may not be properly connected on cars with
manual transmissions.
Correction:
1.
Disconnect negative battery cable.
2.
Locate two way connector C250, and main body harness connector C204, under the instrument panel (IP), to the left of the steering column. Both
connectors are shown in the 1988 Pontiac 6000 Service Manual, on page 8A-201-6A, in the STE portion of Section 8A.
3.
Disconnect the two way connector C250, and cut both wires on the IP harness side of the connector, about six (6) inches back from the connector.
The wire colors are pnk/blk and grn/blk.
