ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE (ECM) EXCHANGE PROGRAM

ALL 1986 MODELS

To ensure that replacement ECM units are returned as soon as possible, ECM units are excluded from the normal 30 day parts retention policy as
presented in the current Pontiac Service Policies and Procedures Manual.  ECM's are to be returned to WDDGM Parts Distribution Centers weekly in
accordance with Section IV, Item G,9 of the current GM Dealer Parts and Accessories Policies and Procedures Manual.

Elimination of the 30 day retention period for ECM units will speed analysis and resolution of any reported malfunctions. It will also result in earlier
receipt of credit for ECM cores.

A two-part ECM Return Tag is included in the remanufactured ECM container.  All areas of the tag are to be properly completed for ECM's returned for
repair.  In order to reduce the high number of NTF (no trouble found) ECM's it is important that all information relative to the ECM malfunction be
completed on the tags (i.e. trouble code(s), etc.). After completion of the tag, the extra copy is to be attached to the scrap copy of the repair order and
retained for disposition by the Pontiac Zone Representative.

Please make sure affected personnel review this bulletin so all replaced ECM units are promptly returned.
