    Main bearings are available in standard sizes and undersizes of .0005, .0010 and .0015 inch. The amount of undersize is stamped on the bearing shell, 
Fig. 32.    Rod bearings are available in standard sizes and an undersize of .010 inch.     On 1982-84 vehicles, there are two different length main bearing
cap-to-block bolts being used in production. Any given engine will use only one length cap bolt. A 3 15/16 inch (100mm) long bolt is used on engines
that have main bearing caps that have their locations in the engine cast into the cap. A 4 11/32 inch (110mm) long bolt is used on engines that have main
bearing caps that have their location in engine identified by the number of raised ribs cast into the cap. Use of improper bolts will cause the block threads
to strip.    On 1985 vehicles, two distinct cylinder blocks are used in production. Type 1 blocks have two bolts retaining the No. 2 and 3 main bearing
caps, while Type 2 blocks have four bolts retaining the caps. On Type 2 blocks, torque outer retaining bolts to 52 ft.lbs. and inner bolts to 89 ft.lbs.
