Cruise Control Switch: Service and Repair

The cruise control engagement switch is part of the multi-function lever, which must be replaced as an assembly.
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Open hood and disconnect negative battery cable(s).
2. Left hand sound insulator.
3. Cruise control switch harness connector and attach a long piece of wire to the end of the cruise control lever connector. There is a hole in the end of
the connector for this. Thin piano or music wire works very well for this purpose.
4. The turn signal lever is removed by pulling it out of the detented retaining clip inside the steering column.
NOTE: Pull harness up and out gently so wire can be used to install new unit. Do not pull wire all the way through the steering column, it will be used to
pull the new harness back through the column. Removing the plastic sheathing for the cruise control wires from the steering column may aid in
the removal and installation of the engagement switch.
INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Transaxle selector in "LOW" to ease installation. Attach upper end of wire to cruise control switch harness connector and gently pull wire at lower
end of steering column, feeding harness into proper location in column.
2. Turn signal lever into turn signal switch and snap into its retainer.
3. Disconnect wire from switch harness and reconnect harness. Reinstall protective plastic around wires and column.
4. Left hand sound insulator.
5. Negative battery cable(s).
