Oil Pressure Gauge: Testing and Inspection
OIL PRESSURE GAGE IS INACCURATE
Disconnect the oil pressure sender/switch connector. Connect one red clip of tester J-33431 to A (TAN) and connect the other red lead clip lead to B
(BLK). Set the resistance dials of the sender to 1 ohm, 43 ohms and then to 86 ohms. The gage should read 0 PSI, midscale and then 80 PSI.
If the gage is correct, replace the oil pressure sender/switch.
If the gage is incorrect, check TAN (31) and TAN/BLK (231) wires for opens, shorts or high resistance. Also check the BLK (150 and 154) wires for
an open. If the wires are OK, replace the instrument cluster.
