Bonneville V6-3800 3.8L Supercharged (1992)
Fuel Gauge Sender: Component Tests and General Diagnostics
Test C: Fuel Gage Short Test
Disconnect Fuel Tank Unit connector C409. Turn the Ignition Switch to RUN.
^ If the Fuel Gage indicates F then E, then F again, replace the Fuel Gage Sender.
^ If the Fuel Gage indicates F, then E, and remains at E, check the PPL (30) wire for a short to ground. Replace the Instrument Cluster if the wire is
OK.
Test D: Duel Gage Sender Test
With the Ignition Switch in RUN, disconnect Fuel Tank Unit connector C409 and connect one red clip lead of tester J-33431 to B (PPL) and the other
to D (BLK/WHT). Set the resistance dials of the tester to 0 ohms, 44 ohms and then to 90 ohms. The Fuel Gage should indicate "E," midscale, and then
"F."
^ If the Gage responds correctly, replace the Fuel Gage Sender.
^ If the Gage does not respond correctly, check PPL (30) wire to the Instrument Cluster for high resistance. Also, inspect the Printed Circuit for proper
mating of the connectors. If the wire and Printed Circuit are good, replace the Instrument Cluster.
Test E: Fuel Gage Open Test
