Air Bag: Service and Repair
Driver's Inflator Module
Always wear safety glasses and gloves. Wash hands with mild soap and water after handling a deployed module.
Removal
1.
Deactivate airbag system. Refer to this system's Service and Repair.
2.
Remove three of the four module to steering column attaching screws from back side of steering wheel.
3.
While supporting module with one hand, remove fourth screw and disconnect the module connector, then tape the connector.
4.
Disconnect horn lead.
Installation
1.
While holding module with one hand, connect module connector and horn lead.
2.
Place module in position and secure with one screw.
3.
Install three remaining screws, ensuring all attaching bolts are fully driven, seated and not stripped.
4.
Remove tape and activate airbag system.
