Brake Caliper: Service and Repair
Rear Brake Assembly
Caliper Removal

1.
Drain approximately 2/3 of brake fluid from master cylinder assembly.
2.
Raise and support vehicle, then remove tire and wheel assembly.
3.
Loosen tension on parking brake cable at equalizer, remove cable and spring from parking brake lever, Fig. 4

While holding parking brake lever, remove locknut, parking brake lever, lever seal and anti-friction washer, Fig. 4. Parking brake lever
assembly must be removed to provide clearance for compressing caliper piston. Failure to remove lever will cause piston to be damaged
when it is bottomed in bore.
5.
Remove brake line fittings from caliper if caliper is to be removed for service or replacement. If only the shoes and linings are to be replaced,
do not disconnect brake hose from caliper.
