Subject:
ENGINE SPLASH SHIELDS POTENTIAL
INTERFERENCE WITH COOLANT HOSES
MODELS AFFECTED:
1985-86 PONTIAC FIERO EQUIPPED WITH V6 ENGINE
TO:
ALL PONTIAC DEALERS
General Motors has determined certain 1985-86 Fiero model vehicles equipped with a V6 engine could exhibit an interference condition between the
engine splash shields and the engine cooling system hoses. Over time, this condition could result in wear of the coolant hose(s), possibly causing a
coolant leak.
To prevent the possibility of this condition occurring, it will be necessary to inspect involved vehicles and ensure there is adequate clearance between the
coolant hoses and engine splash shields. Additionally, coolant hoses will be inspected for wear and replaced if necessary.
