Remove camshaft thrust plate retaining screws, Fig. 8, and carefully pull camshaft out of engine. Use care to avoid damaging camshaft bearings
.

To remove gear, proceed as follows:
a. Support gear on press using a suitable sleeve, Fig. 9, then press camshaft out of gear using a socket or other suitable tool. Thrust plate must
be positioned so that woodruff key in shaft does not damage thrust plate when camshaft is pressed out.
b. To install gear, firmly support camshaft at back of front journal in press using plate adapters.
c. Place gear spacer ring and thrust plate cover end of shaft and install woodruff key.
d. Press gear until it bottoms against the gear spacer ring. Check end clearance which should be .0015 to .0050 inch, Fig. 10. If clearance is less
than specified, the spacer ring should be replaced. If clearance is greater than specified, the thrust plate should be replaced.

Carefully install camshaft making sure that marks are aligned as shown in Fig. 11. Torque thrust plate retaining screws to 75 inch lbs. The valve
