INPUT CLUTCH HOUSING TURBINE SHAFT REDESIGN - THM 700-R4
Beginning early in the 1983 model year, the THM 700-R4 transmission turbine shaft which is pressed into
the input clutch housing was redesigned to accommodate a 245 mm diameter converter assembly... The first design, which is still used in some
applications, is designed to accommodate a 298 mm diameter converter assembly (see illustration).
When servicing any THM 700-R4 transmission that necessitates replacing the input clutch housing, refer to the following chart (shown below) for
ordering parts.
If the retainer assembly ball check capsule located in the spline end of the turbine shaft or the turbine shaft "O" ring should have to be replaced, order
replacement parts as per the chart shown on the reverse side.
