File In Section: 10 - Body
Bulletin No.: 63-15-13
Date: June, 1996
Subject:
Adhesive Residue on Rear Compartment Lift Glass and Lace Molding (Apply Cleaning Solvent/Remove Excess Adhesive/Pressure Wash)
Models:
1994-96 Chevrolet Camaro
1994-96 Pontiac Firebird
(Coupes Only)
Condition
Some owners may comment that adhesive is oozing out from between the rear compartment lift glass lace molding and the glass surface.
Cause
Condition may be due to the hot melt molding adhesive mixing with molding solvents and becoming "runny' in hot ambient temperatures.
Correction
Lace moldings should NOT be replaced on vehicles exhibiting this condition. Apply cleaning solvent, remove excess adhesive and pressure wash
adhesive residue from the glass/molding area. The solvent application and cleaning portion should be done at room temperature on a warm lace molding.
It may be necessary to warm the lace molding with a heat lamp or heat gun prior to solvent application.
