All vehicles built in model year 1994, as well as 1995 models built prior to the below listed VIN breakpoints, feature a partial lace molding that only
attaches to the lower portion of the rear compartment lift glass. Vehicles built in 1995 with the below listed VIN breakpoints or after, as well as 1996
models, feature a full lace molding that attaches around the complete lift glass (see Figure 1).

Important: 

When performing the following procedure, removal of the lace molding from the lift glass, or removal of the lift glass from the vehicle is not
required or recommended.

Procedure (If vehicle exhibits this condition)

1.

Lift edge of lace molding at glass surface and, using a solvent such as Tar and Road Oil Remover, P/N 1050172, 3M # 08984 General Purpose
Adhesive Cleaner, or equivalent, squirt or apply solvent into the area along the entire lace molding.

Important: 

It may be necessary to obtain a squeeze or spray bottle to apply the solvent.

Allow solvent to remain in cavity area for at least two minutes.

3.

Using a flat-bladed tool (screwdriver, pocket scale, etc.) as a scraper, insert between lace molding and glass surface and remove excess adhesive
from the area.

Notice: 

Do not use a utility knife, razor blade or other sharp object for adhesive removal or damage to the lace molding may result.

4.

Rinse and clean any adhesive residue from the glass/molding surface using Tar and Road Oil Remover, P/N 1050172, 3M # 08984 General
Purpose Adhesive Cleaner, or equivalent.
