1.
Disconnect battery ground cable, then remove fan shroud.
2.
On models with TBI, remove air cleaner.
3.
Remove plenum extension, if equipped.
4.
Disconnect and tag spark plug wires at distributor, then remove distributor cap.
5.
Remove A/C compressor and position aside with refrigerant lines attached.
6.
Raise and support vehicle, then drain crankcase.
7.
Remove AIR pipe, if equipped, and hanger bolts from catalytic converter. On some models it may be necessary to disconnect exhaust crossover
pipe at exhaust manifolds.
8.
Remove starter motor attaching bolts and position starter motor aside.
9.
Remove engine mount through bolts, then raise engine.
10.
Remove oil pan attaching bolts and oil pan, Fig. 15. If oil pan removal is hampered by the forward crankshaft throw and/or counterweight
extending downward, turn crankshaft as needed to put throw in a horizontal position.
11.
Reverse procedure to install, using a new gasket and seals.
