Fuel Gauge: Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures
Test A: Fuel Gage Always Indicates "E"
TEST A: FUEL GAGE ALWAYS INDICATES "E"
Disconnect Fuel Tank Unit connector C313. Turn ignition Switch to RUN.
^ If the Fuel Gage indicates "F," replace Fuel Tank Unit.
^ If the Fuel Gage still indicates "E," check PPL (30) wire for a short to ground. Check instrument Cluster Printed Circuit for cracks or flaws.
Repair/replace Fuel Gage if the wire and Printed Circuit are good
Test B: Fuel Gage Always Indicates "F"
TEST B: FUEL GAGE ALWAYS INDICATES "F"
Disconnect Fuel Tank Unit connector C313. Connect a fused jumper from C313 terminal B, PPL (30) wire (harness side), to ground. Turn ignition
Switch to RUN.
^ If the Fuel Gage indicates "E," check BLK (150) wire for an open. Replace Fuel Tank Unit if the wire is good.
^ If the Fuel Gage still indicates "F," check PPL (30) wire for an open. Check instrument Cluster Printed Circuit for cracks or flaws. Repair/replace Fuel
Gage if the wire and Printed Circuit are good
