Brake Light Switch: Service and Repair

To avoid personal injury when servicing models equipped with Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (Airbag) System, temporarily disarm
system. Refer to Air Bags and Seat Belts/Air Bags (Supplemental Restraint Systems)/Service and Repair.

Remove left hand side hush panel.

3.

Working from underneath instrument panel, disconnect wire connector from switch at brake pedal support.

4.

Remove switch from mounting bracket, Fig. 11.

5.

Depress brake pedal and install new switch into clip, until switch body bottoms out against clip.

Release brake pedal, then pull pedal rearward against internal stop. The switch is properly positioned when no clicks are noticed when brake pedal
is against internal stop. Ensure brake lamps remain Off when brake pedal is in the released position, if readjust switch.

7.

After completing service procedure activate Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (Airbag) System. Refer to MAINTENANCE
PROCEDURES/AIRBAG SYSTEM DISARMING.
