Air Bag(s) Arming and Disarming: Service and Repair
Disabling the SIR System
1.
To avoid personal injury when servicing models equipped with Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (Airbag) System, temporarily disarm
system as follows:
a. With steering wheel in straight ahead position, place ignition switch in Lock position.
b. Remove Airbag (SIR) fuse from fuse panel.
c. Remove lower left hand trim panel, then remove connector position assurance and disconnect yellow two way Supplemental Inflatable
Restraint connector at base of steering column.

After completing service procedure activate Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (Airbag) system as follows:
a. Ensure ignition switch is in Lock position.
b. Connect yellow SIR two way electrical connector and install connector position assurance at base of steering column.
c. Install lower left hand trim panel.
d. Install Airbag (SIR) fuse into fuse panel.
e. Place ignition switch in Run position and note operation of inflatable Restraint warning lamp. Warning lamp should flash 7 to 9 times and then
turn off.
