Standby Power Supply: Service and Repair

    Do not open the DERM case for any reason. Touching the connector pins or soldered components may cause electrostatic discharge damage.
Repair of a faulty DERM is by replacement only.

1.

Deactivate airbag system as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG DEACTIVATION.

2.

Remove instrument panel pad.

3.

Remove side window defogger duct and retaining screws.

4.

Remove DERM upper and lower retaining screws, Fig. 321.

5.

Unlatch orange lock and disconnect DERM electrical connector.

6.

Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:

a. Activate airbag system as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG ACTIVATION.
b. Turn ignition switch to the On position and verify the ``Inflatable Restraint'' indicator flashes 7 to 9 times then turns Off. If indicator does not

respond, refer to DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING PROCEDURE/TESTING PROCEDURES/RETRIEVING TROUBLE CODES.
