Radiator Cooling Fan Motor: Description and Operation
This engine is equipped with two cooling fans. When cooling fan relay No. 1 is energized the cooling fans are connected in series and operate at low
speed. When all three relays are energized the fans are connected in parallel and operate together at high speed. When coolant temperature exceeds
226° F, then the PCM will command the low speed fan to operate. At a coolant temperature of 235° F, the high speed fans begin operation, When
coolant temperature drops to 230° F the high speed fans are commanded Off. When certain diagnostic codes are set, then the PCM commands low
speed fans On.
