Condition
Some customers may comment that the steering column tilt wheel release lever is inoperative or broken.
Cause
This condition may be caused by the internal tilt lever mechanisms, or the tilt teeth retainers on the steering column, becoming worn or damaged. This
condition may lead to a higher than intended level of force being applied to the tilt wheel release lever and resulting in damage.
Correction
Important
Shown in two positions above, the steering column tilt teeth retainer (1) has now been released as a separate service part. If found damaged or
broken during a tilt wheel release lever kit replacement, it can be serviced separately and no longer requires a steering column replacement.
