Subject: Intermittent MIL/Check Engine Light On, DTC P2096 and/or P2098 Set (Reprogram ECM)
Models:
2008-2009 Pontiac G8
Equipped with 3.6L Engine (VIN Code D - RPO LY7)
Condition
Some customers may comment that the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL)/check engine light comes on intermittently.
Technicians may find DTC P2096 (Post Catalyst Fuel Trim System Low Limit Bank 1) and/or P2098 (Post Catalyst Fuel Trim System Low Limit Bank
2) stored in the powertrain control module (PCM).
Correction
A revised calibration has been developed to address this condition. If the Service Information for the conditions described above do not isolate a fault,
reprogram the ECM with the latest calibration available. Verify that the multiple diagnostic interface (MDI) that is being used is configured to the PC
that will be used.
