Wheel Cylinder: Service and Repair
Removal

Rear Brake Pipes And Hoses

-

Raise vehicle and support on jack stands.

-

Mark relationship of wheel to axle flange, then remove wheel and tire assembly.

-

Mark relationship of brake drum to axle flange. 

-

Remove brake drum.

-

Clear dirt and foreign material around wheel cylinder inlet and pilot.

CAUTION:  Do not pull metal line away from cylinder, as this may kink or bend line. Line will separate from cylinder when cylinder is moved away
from brake backing plate.

Remove inlet tube nut and line. 

-

Plug opening in line to prevent fluid loss and contamination.
