FRONT DOOR MANUAL AND POWER WINDOWS HARD TO CYCLE/ROLL AND/OR DISENGAGE FROM RUN CHANNEL (REPLACE RUN
CHANNEL, REAR CHANNEL RETAINER, AND REGULATOR ASSEMBLY)

MODELS:
1992-93 BUICK SKYLARK 1
992-93 PONTIAC GRAND AM 
1992-93 OLDSMOBILE ACHIEVA 
(MODELS BUILT PRIOR TO NOVEMBER 1, 1992)

THIS BULLETIN IS BEING REVISED TO ADD THE 1993 MODELS YEAR AND TO UPDATE THE CORRECTION PROCEDURE, PARTS
AND WARRANTY INFORMATION DUE TO DESIGN CHANGES. THIS BULLETIN IS NOW APPLICABLE TO BOTH MANUAL AND
POWER WINDOWS. ARTWORK REMAINS THE SAME. PREVIOUS DIVISIONAL PUBLICATION NUMBERS WERE: (See Illustration)

Condition:
Some owners of the above vehicles built prior to November 1, 1992 may comment on any of the following front door window concerns:

-

hard to cycle

-

do not roll up properly

-

disengage from the run channel

Cause:
Insufficient channel depth at the front lower area of the run channel and/or a mis-adjusted window resulting in window disengagement from the run
channel and/or damage to the window regulator.

Correction:
Design changes were made to the window run channel assembly and rear window channel retainer to correct for this condition. Both of these parts, along
with the window regulator assembly (if damaged), should be changed. Any 1993 vehicle built after November 1, 1992 had the new parts installed at the
assembly plant.

If the vehicle is a 1993 model, verify the vehicle was built before November 1, 1992 by checking the sticker in the door jamb of the driver's door.

Important:

Before the water deflector and door trim panel are installed on the vehicle, be sure to adjust the front window following the procedure outlined later
in this bulletin.

1.

Replace the front window run channel assembly with new replacement part. Follow the procedure outlined in Section 10-6 of the appropriate
Service Manual.

2.

Replace the front window rear channel retainer with new replacement part. Follow the procedure outlined in Section 10-6 of the appropriate
Service Manual.

3.

If the front door window regulator assembly is damaged, replace the regulator according to the procedure outlined in Section 10-6 of the
appropriate Service Manual.

Front Door Window Adjustment Procedure:

1.

Move top of window 4 to 6 inches away from the door header.
