Tire/Wheel - Match Mounting May Not be Required

Bulletin Number:

89-3-3

Reference Number:

873504

Publish Date:

9/88

Subject:

TIRE/WHEEL MOUNTING

Models

Affected:

1989 6000, GRAND PRIX, AND BONNEVILLE

Continuous improvements in the manufacturing process of both steel and aluminum wheels has resulted in greatly reduced variations. Additional tire
variation reductions have also been achieved. Because of this, match mounting of tires and wheels at the assembly plant is no longer necessary on 6000,
Grand Prix, and Bonneville models for 1989. Some tire manufactures will continue to identify the high point of the tire with a painted dot or adhesive
sticker so that match mounting can still be accomplished on other car lines.

Dealers should not dismount the tire to align the wheel's valve with the tire's high point mark, since this will not improve the ride or handling
characteristics of these vehicles.
