Steering Shaft: Service and Repair
NOTICE: The wheels of the vehicle must be straight ahead and the steering column in the LOCK position before disconnecting the steering column or
intermediate shaft from the steering gear. Failure to do so will cause the SIR coil to become uncentered, which will cause damage to the coil.
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Position intermediate steering shaft seal for access to lower bolt.
2. Bolt at power steering gear stub shaft.
3. Left hand instrument panel insulator.
4. Reposition intermediate steering shaft seal to gain access to upper intermediate steering shaft bolt.
5. Bolt and disconnect intermediate steering shaft at the steering column.
