Grand Prix V6-204 3.4L DOHC VIN X SFI (1995)
Underhood Electrical Center #1
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
Power for the fan motors comes from 60 amp maxi-fuse elements to the fan relays. The relays are energized when current flows to ground through
the PCM (Quad-Driver).
Fan 1 relay
The PCM energizes the relay through terminal "A2" when the engine coolant temperature reaches 106°C (223°F) or when A/C is requested.
Fan 2 relay
The fan 2 relay is energized by the PCM if the A/C refrigerant pressure sensor reaches 240 psi or the engine coolant temperature reaches 113°C
(235°F).
CHART TEST DESCRIPTION
Number(s) below refer to circled number(s) on the diagnostic chart.
1. Checks to see if CKT 473 is grounded all the time. A light indicates the wire is shorted to ground; the following steps will isolate the problem.
2. Checks to see if CKT 335 is grounded all the time, which would keep the relay closed at all times.
