Installing Fuel Injector
NOTICE: Use care in removing injectors to prevent damage to the electrical connector pins on the injector and the nozzle. The fuel injector is serviced
as a complete assembly only. Since it is an electrical component, it should not be immersed in any type of cleaner.
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Negative battery cable.
2. Relieve fuel system pressure.

Refer to Fuel System / Service and Repair.
3. Upper manifold assembly.
4. Fuel rail assembly.
DISASSEMBLE
1. Injector retainer clip and discard.
2. SFI fuel injector assembly.
3. Injector O-ring seals from both ends of injector and discard.

When ordering new fuel injectors, be sure to order the correct injector for the application being serviced.

If fuel injectors are found to be leaking, the engine oil may be contaminated with fuel.
ASSEMBLE
1. Lubricate new injector O-ring seals with clean engine oil and install on injector assembly.
3. SFI fuel injector assembly into fuel rail injector socket with electrical connectors facing outward.
3. New injector retainer clips.

Align injector so that the retainer clip engages both the flange on rail socket and the injector retaining slot. The open end of the retainer clip
must face the injector electrical connector.
INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Fuel rail assembly.
2. Intake manifold plenum.
3. Negative battery cable.
