Engine Block Heater And Cord Routing 3800
CAUTION: Perform this operation only when the engine is cool or personal injury may result.
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Drain coolant.
2. Raise vehicle and suitably support.
3. Right front wheel with 3100 L82 (VIN M).
4. Right engine splash shield with 3100 L82 (VIN M).
5. Engine block heater cord from engine block heater.
6. Loosen engine block heater bolt/screw.
7. Engine block heater.
Clean
^
Core plug hole.
INSTALL OR CONNECT
NOTE: Refer to Service Precautions.
1. Coat of lubricant, GM P/N 9985164 or equivalent, to the engine block heater seal and the cleaned surface of the engine block heater hole.
2. Engine block heater with heating element at 3 O'clock position.
3. Engine block heater bolt/screw.
Tighten

Bolt/screw to 2 N.m (18 lb. in.).
CAUTION: Engine block heater cord must not contact engine, exhaust pipes, manifold or any moving parts or vehicle damage and/or personal
injury may result.
4. Engine block heater cord to engine block heater.
5. Right engine splash shield with 3100 L82 (VIN M).
6. Right front wheel with 3100 L82 (VIN M).
7. Lower vehicle.
8. Coolant.
