Catalytic Converter: Service and Repair
The three way catalytic converter is serviced by replacing the entire assembly. Always replace the exhaust manifold pipe, gasket and catalytic
converter gaskets at the front and rear flanges when servicing the three way catalytic converter assembly. Never reinstall the original gaskets.
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Raise vehicle and suitably support.
2. Support three way catalytic converter and exhaust muffler.
3. Nuts from manifold.
4. Bolts from exhaust pipe to three way catalytic converter.
5. Hangers from three way catalytic converter.
6. Three way catalytic converter.
7. Exhaust manifold pipe gasket from three way catalytic converter front flange.
8. Catalytic converter gasket from three way catalytic converter rear flange.
INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. New catalytic converter gasket to three way catalytic converter rear flange.
2. New exhaust manifold pipe gasket to three way catalytic converter front flange.
3. New three way catalytic converter to vehicle and support.
4. Hangers to three way catalytic convener.
5. Exhaust pipe bolts to three way catalytic converter.
6. Nuts to manifold.

Tighten Nuts to manifold to 35 Nm (26 lb ft).

Exhaust muffler bolts to three way catalytic converter to 45 Nm (33 lb ft).
7. Lower vehicle.
