Driver/Vehicle Information Display: Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview
Preliminary Diagnosis
^
Refer to the Symptom Table for the appropriate diagnostic procedures.
IMPORTANT:
^
Before removing Trip Calculator components, turn Ignition Switch to "OFF" and disconnect negative Battery cable.
^
To avoid misdiagnosis, check for stored Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). Refer to Engine Controls. See: Powertrain Management/Computers
and Control Systems/Testing and Inspection
Troubleshooting Hints
1. Check I/P-IGN Fuse, RADIO Fuse, and DIC/HVAC Fuse for open circuits.
2. Check that G102, G200, G301, and G402 are clean and tight.
^
Check for a broken (or partially broken) wire inside of the insulation which could cause system malfunction but prove "GOOD" in a
continuity/voltage check with a system disconnected. These circuits may be intermittent or resistive when loaded, and if possible, should be
checked by monitoring for a voltage drop with the system operational (under load).
^
Check for proper installation of aftermarket electronic equipment which may affect the integrity of other systems (refer to General
Troubleshooting Procedures). See: Diagrams/Diagnostic Aids
