Oil Change Reminder Lamp: Description and Operation
Oil Life Monitor
OIL LIFE MONITOR
If the vehicle is equipped with the U40 option code, the vehicle has an OIL LIFE MONITOR. The engine oil life monitor will show when to change
the engine oil and oil filter. This will usually occur between 5 000 km (3,000 miles) and 12,500 km (7,500 miles) since the last oil change. Under
severe conditions, the indicator may come on before 5 000 km (3,000 miles). Never drive the vehicle more than 12,500 km (7,500 miles) or 12 months
without an oil and oil filter change.
The system won't detect dust in the oil. So if the vehicle is driven in a dusty area, be sure to change the oil and oil filter every 5 000 km (3,000 miles)
or sooner, even if the CHANGE OIL SOON indicator doesn't come on.
Always reset the OIL LIFE MONITOR when the oil has been changed, even if the CHANGE OIL SOON indicator didn't come on.
