4. Turn the Ignition Switch "LOCK" and then to "ACCESSORY" within 1 second.
5. The Diagnostic Codes (DTC's) may flash and chime simultaneously from 1 to 8 times equaling that Diagnostic trouble code.

Diagnostic trouble codes will be stored for 10 years unless erased.

If there are codes in memory record them and then erase the codes. To erase the codes press and hold any Door "UNLOCK" switch for 4
seconds.

Exit diagnostics.

^

With the codes that have been recorded test there functionality.

^

Reenter diagnostics and see if these codes exist. If they do see symptom table for appropriate DTC code.

6. If there is more than one trouble code in memory the codes will be flashed in sequence pausing for 2 seconds between each code. These codes will

repeat 3 times.

7. If Diagnostics cannot be accessed try entering Diagnostics once again. If Diagnostics are still not accessed see for Cannot Enter Diagnostics.

Exiting Diagnostics

Once initiated, the MALL subsystem will remain in the diagnostics mode until one or more of the following conditions is met:

1. Turn the Ignition Switch out of "ACCESSORY."
2. Turn the Ignition Switch to the "RUN" position.

Input/Output Diagnostics

After all diagnostic codes have been displayed the MALL subsystem provides individual input and output diagnostic checks for all functions. For
example, if the Driver Door is opened and then closed the system provides feedback of a single flash and bong for the opening operation and a single
flash and bong for the closing operation of the door. If this does not occur then there is an open or short in that circuit or a bad component. This feedback
is not provided for the Interior Lights, the Tamper signal or the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) input. The RKE input is tested when you enter diagnostics.
The Body Control Module (BCM) sends a signal to the Remote Control Door Lock Receiver and looks for a return signal. If this does not occur it will
set a DTC code 8. To test the Interior Lights and the Tamper signal the BCM goes through the following cycle starting at cycle 1 by throwing the Interior
Lights Switch from an inactive to an active state:

1. Deactivate the Battery output to the Courtesy Lights.
2. Activates the Battery output to the Courtesy Lights.
3. If the mileage flag is set the Courtesy output is inactive then activates the Courtesy output for 1 second. The interior lights will change state when

this occurs.

4. Activates the exterior lights for 1 second.
5. Activates the Horn for 1/2 a second.
6. Enables Shock Sensor diagnostics and turns the Security Indicator LED "ON."
7. Disables Shock Sensor diagnostics and turns the Security Indicator LED "OFF."

Each time the interior lights go from an inactive to an active state the BCM goes to the next cycle and the chime will bong letting the technician
know what cycle the BCM is at. BCM types 1, 2, 2E, 2F, and 3 cycle through the table repeating at cycle 1 after cycle 3. BCM type 4 cycles
through the table at cycle 1 after cycle 7.

Shock Sensor Diagnostics

If Shock Sensor Diagnostics is enabled (cycle #6 in the list above), MALL subsystem type 4 will activate the HORN output for a period of 25ms upon
detection of an inactive to active transition on the TAMPER input. MALL subsystem type 4 will activate the HORN output for a period of 100ms upon
detection of an inactive to active transition on the TAMPER input. The technician will be able to test the Tamper input anywhere on the vehicle while in
this cycle.

General Information

There are three different types of Body Control Module's (BCM), referred to as types 2, 3, and 4. The BCM-2 provides Illumination Control, Inadvertent
Load Control, Chime/Warning functions, Retained Accessory Power, control of the vehicle's Power Door Locks including Lockout Prevention, Last
Door Closed Locking, Automatic Door Lock, and Automatic Door Unlock functions. 

The BCM-3 provides the features of MALL-2 subsystems, and adds functions designed to allow the MALL subsystem to work with a Remote Keyless
Entry subsystem. 

The BCM-4 provides all the functions of the MALL-2, and MALL-3 subsystems and adds Remote Activation Verification, Remote Alarm, and Content
Theft Deterrent System functions.

Illumination Functions

1. Delayed Illumination - A convenience feature intended to aid the driver by leaving the Interior Lights on for a period of time after all doors have

been closed.

2. Exit Lighting - A convenience feature intended to aid the driver in exiting the vehicle by turning on the Interior Lights for a period of time after the

key has been removed from the ignition.

3. Illumination on Door Lock Cylinder Switch Unlock - A convenience feature intended to turn on the Interior Lights for a period of time when the

driver unlocks the doors using the Door Lock Cylinder Switch.

4. Illumination on Remote Activation - A convenience feature intended to turn on the Interior Lights for a period of time when the driver activates

certain remote functions.

5. Illumination Dim to Off - Allows the Interior Lights to be smoothly changed from full brightness to off at the end of certain illumination features.
6. Inadvertent Power Control - Overhead and convenience lights are turned off in the event that they may have been inadvertently left on.
