Condition
Some owners may comment that the customized settings they program are lost a few days (usually about 3 days) after programming. This condition
occurs only on vehicles with the UA6 Theft Deterrent System. The setting lost is usually the automatic door lock/unlock feature, but could be any other
customized setting controlled by the Body Control Module (BCM).
Important:
The Owner's Manual has one incorrect piece of information on Customer Programming. Under "Locks and Lighting Choices" in Section 2, the table
shows that if 3 chimes are sounded, the "Remote Lock" Unlock Confirmation" can be selected. This option is not available in the 3 chime mode. This
was corrected in the late 1997 Owner's Manual printings.
This is a normal condition for these vehicles, and performing this bulletin procedure will not change that condition.
Cause
A quality concern in the BCM allows the customized settings to be selected, but then lost. This occurred on BCM's produced between February and
August of 1997. A new part number has been released to correct vehicles with the above condition.
Correction
Replace the BCM with new Part Number 10410079, following the instructions in the Service Manual.
