Grand Prix V6-3.8L SC VIN 1 (1997)
Tire Monitoring System: Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview
Circuit Operation
When any tire on the vehicle has low pressure the Electronic Brake Control Module sends a voltage signal through circuit 1084 to the Driver Information
Display/Trip Calculator. This causes the "CHECK TIRE PRESSURE" indicator to illuminate. After checking and filling the tires with the appropriate
amount of air, the tires should be good. Press the Check Tire Pressure Reset Switch to turn the "CHECK TIRE PRESSURE" display off on the Driver
Information Display/Trip Calculator. The Check Tire Pressure Reset Switch sends a ground signal through circuit 1084 and resets the "CHECK TIRE
PRESSURE" indicator.
System Diagnosis
Refer to the Symptom Table for the appropriate diagnostic procedures.
Troubleshooting Hints
1. Check the RADIO Fuse and ABS IGN Fuse for an open.
2. Check that G200 and G205 are clean and tight.
^
Check for a broken (or partially broken) wire inside of the insulation which could cause system malfunction but prove "GOOD" in a
continuity/voltage check with a system disconnected. These circuits may be intermittent or resistive when loaded, and if possible, should be
checked by monitoring for a voltage drop with the system operational (under load).
^
Check for proper installation of aftermarket electronic equipment which may affect the integrity of other systems (Refer to General
Troubleshooting Procedures). See: Diagrams/Diagnostic Aids
