Band Apply Servo: Service and Repair
Reverse Servo

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT

1. Air cleaner duct. Refer to POWERTRAIN MANAGEMENT.
2. Exhaust crossover pipe, 3800 (VIN K and VIN 1). 
3. Right (rear) exhaust manifold, 3800 (VIN K and VIN 1). Refer to ENGINE.
4. Depress reverse servo cover.
5. Snap ring, reverse servo cover, servo piston, sealing ring, apply pin and servo spring.

 
INSTALL OR CONNECT    

NOTICE:  Always use the correct fastener in the proper location. When you replace a fastener, use ONLY the exact part number for that application.
The manufacturer will call out those fasteners that require a replacement after removal. The manufacturer will also call out the fasteners that require
thread lockers or thread sealant. UNLESS OTHERWISE SPECIFIED, do not use supplemental coatings (paints, greases, or other corrosion inhibitors)
on threaded fasteners or fastener joint interfaces. Generally, such coatings adversely affect the fastener torque and the joint clamping force, and may
damage the fastener. When you install fasteners, use the correct tightening sequence and specifications. Following these instructions can help you
avoid damage to parts and systems.

1. Jack up the driver side of the car (channel plate side) so it is higher than the differential side. This will ensure that the reverse band will be in the

proper location and not cocked to the channel plate side of the case.

Important:  If this procedure is not followed, the transaxle will not have reverse gear due to the servo pin missing the band.

2. Servo spring, apply pin, sealing ring, servo piston, reverse servo cover and snap ring.
3. Right (rear) exhaust manifold, 3800 (VIN K and VIN 1). Refer to ENGINE.
4. Exhaust crossover pipe, 3800 (VIN K and VIN 1).
5. Air cleaner duct. Refer to POWERTRAIN MANAGEMENT.
