Valve Lifter Replacement

Tools Required

J 3049-A Valve Lifter Remover

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the cylinder head. 
2. Remove the lifter guide bolts (211).

Important: Note the installed position of the guides. The notched area of the guide is to align with the locating tab of the block.

3. Remove the lifter guides (210) with lifters.

Important: Some valve lifters may be stuck in their bores because of gum or varnish deposits.

4. Use the J 3049-A or equivalent in order to remove the valve lifters, if necessary.
